Development of Biomarkers of Healthy Longevity

Longevity

Summary

Arai

Supercentenarians, who live to more than 110 years of age, have an extremely long healthspan and are considered to be a model of healthy longevity. At the Center for Supercentenarian Medical Research, we make full use of the bioresources of supercentenarians that has been collected in our medical school over more than 20 years. This research project aims to identify biomarkers of healthy longevity through an integrative Omics technology such as whole genome sequences, single cell transcriptome, gut microbial genes, and iPS cell phenotyping. Furthermore, in collaboration with the ongoing cohort of elderly people with detailed clinical information and imaging data, we will establish "Big Data on Longevity and Cognitive aging" by linking genome/biomarker information and use state-of-the-art AI to create mathematical models for efficient preventive medicine and nursing care systems.
