Apply Academic Knowledge to solve social issues and business challenges
One-Stop Problem-to-Solution Unit
One-stop service unit that solves social issues and business solutions while ensuring reproducibility and explainability based on knowledge gleaned from academic research
In 2023, Keio University was selected as part of the Program for Forming Japan's Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS). In line with this program, KGRI is working on various initiatives to accomplish its objectives, one of which is the "One-Stop Problem-to-Solution Unit."
This unit take on social issues and business challenges faced by corporations and municipalities, forming teams consisting of Keio researchers with the relevant knowledge and experience to offer a tailored solution.

A tradition of Keio University pioneered by its founder, Yukichi Fukuzawa, the "spirit of jitsugaku" is a scientific mindset that solves problems by empirically ascertaining the truth.
Keio University boasts top-level researchers in the humanities, social sciences, science and technology, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and other fields. This group of researchers, each working to become leaders in their respective disciplines, is one of the most academically diverse in Japan and works to solve social issues while placing emphasis on the jitsugaku philosophy.
At this time, KGRI has established the "One-Stop Problem-to-Solution Unit" to provide more organized, seamless and accessible solutions to social issues, which had previously been addressed in isolated contexts.
This organization is also able to propose tailor-made solutions and responses to complex issues when those seeking help may be unsure of which experts to consult. Please feel free to reach out to us for a consultation.
In recent years, social issues and business challenges are not confined to any single academic discipline but often span multiple fields. At the One-Stop Problem-to-Solution Unit, we are able to provide consolidated solutions to issues that span academic fields by selecting researchers within Keio and forming an interdisciplinary response team.
Examples of Proposals by Sector
We are not only involved as a planning and think tank for various consulting services, system design, and simulation execution. We can also provide support in the implementation of measures and strategic planning, including pricing, customer targeting and market segmentation, system development, and generating academic evidence.
In addition, we also consider joint applications and ownership of intellectual property (such as patents and utility models) obtained during the problem-solving process.
Fintech
We will form a team of experts in finance, science, and technology to propose solutions for market and system design for financial services, proposal and execution of various simulations, suggestion of pricing models and customer targeting, and utilization of quantum computing.

Financial Gerontology
Financial gerontology is a new research field that seeks to discover solutions to economic issues arising from longevity and aging through multidisciplinary approaches with a focus on economics while also incorporating law, medicine, science and technology. AI tools and household budgeting data can be used to identify dementia trends among the elderly.
This information can be useful for companies providing trust and guardianship services. This approach also enables collaboration with community health care and preventive medicine.

Sustainable Finance
Sustainable finance considers environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects of financial investments, promoting activities aimed at solving various issues such as climate change, environmental degradation, and human rights issues, in order to help achieve a more sustainable society.
In particular, we can provide advice as well as census and report analysis on emissions data to provide data-based arguments that discredit potential claims of greenwashing.
