Prolonged Life Span and Changing Life Course in Japan
Longevity
Summary

This research project examines the trends and patterns of prolonging life span and changing life course in postwar Japan. Focusing on the timing and sequences of major life-course events including schooling, employment, marriage and family building, we seek to account for the factors of changing life course under prolonged life span. Further, the project also examines changes in the gender patterns of life course in long-term perspective, comparing contemporary Japan and early modern Japan.
