[Report] KGRI Hosts International Meeting of Global Experts on Peace in Ukraine (January 27-28, 2026)

Scholars, legal experts, and former diplomats from ten countries around the world gathered at Keio University's Mita Campus on January 27-28 for an in-depth discussion on peace in Ukraine. Hosted by the Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI), the event provided a forum for multidisciplinary perspectives on the current situation and future pathways toward peace. The event was made possible through the efforts and support of Professor Yoko Hirose, Deputy Director of KGRI.

The two-day program also featured guest lectures by Dr. Shinichi Kitaoka, Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo and Special Advisor to the President (former President) of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Professor Akihiro Iwashita, Director of the Nagasaki University Research Center for Global Risk and Professor at the Slavic-Eurasian Research Center, Hokkaido University. In addition, H.E. Yurii Lutovinov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Japan, joined the discussions during a working lunch.

In line with Keio University's strategy of internationalization and global outreach, KGRI actively hosts and welcomes a wide range of international academic events.
Through such initiatives, KGRI seeks to promote global dialogue, strengthen international networks, and enhance Keio University's presence as a hub for interdisciplinary research and international collaboration.
