(Report) "Political Transition and News Media: Dynamics of Media-Party Parallelism in South Korea" Talk (Dec.19, 2018)

2019.01.08

On 19 December 2019 (Wednesday), Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI) hosted a special lecture entitled "Political Transition and News Media: Dynamics of Media-Party Parallelism in South Korea" at Mita Campus.

The lecturer was Professor Yoon Youngchul, a vice president of Yonsei University, who specializes in Digital Journalism, Journalism Theory, and Media Sociology. The lecture critically demonstrated how democratization since 1987 changed media environments in Korea. It revealed that democratization liberalized the mass media, while encouraging to create the press-party parallelism under the presidential political system.
