Japan is facing unprecedented challenges of a superaged society and low birth rate, and at the same time enters an era of drastic changes in global geopolitical and technological innovations. Educational institutions have the task of developing the intellectual strength of their students so as to lead and contribute to the rapidly changing society.

Keio University is privileged to have two visionary seniors; Yukichi Fukuzawa and Taro Takemi, whose revolutionary ideas not only addressed the pressing issues at their respective times, but still have great impact in the modern world and beyond.
