On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI) hosted a seminar titled "Publishing Now and in the Future" at Shinanomachi Campus. Dr. Emilie Marcus, CEO of Cell Press, and editor-in-chief of Cell, was invited to give a lecture. The venue was filled with participants, young faculty members, professors, undergraduate students, international students, and graduate were people standing to hear her speak. Her lecture was very energetic and the session went on for over 30 minutes.

For research to be recognized internationally, one important factor is to have papers published in well-known journals. Dr. Marcus said that with regard to the number of published papers in Cell Press journals, Keio University has been making a great effort and is 8th in Asia. Her straightforward message of "using every opportunity to emphasize the importance of your work and get feedback" resonated strongly.
